Live Drawings at John K's "when cartoons were cartoony" show

John's show was enlightening and superiorly entertaining. Those old cartoons were hilariously wacky! Cartoony cartoons aren't made anymore, but maybe some of us can try and squeeze some funny drawings into animation again.

Eddie, John and I did caricatures and drawings for everybody. Here's some of mine:

I was lucky enough to draw caricatures beside Eddie Fitzgerald! here's a side by side comparison of what we saw in this fellow.

I see an eager 10 year old boy in steve.

this John likes hotdogs.

It was crazy fun last night! Don't you wish you came now? and got a free caricature?

What were your favourite toons he showed that night?

The Great Piggybank Robbery is easily one of Clampett's best (though I think his absolute best is Book Revue).

Slap Happy Lion and Deputy Droopy are Tex Avery masterpieces. But then again, everything Tex did at MGM was a masterpiece.

I saw Swing You Sinners on Youtube and thought it was one of the greatest F-d up things I had ever seen. I can see why John K. was influenecd by it.

I haven't seen any of the other toons shown that night.

hey marlo, just wondering if you happened to get my sketchbook that i left for you at comic con. you, katie, and john looked really busy doing carciatures (including one you did of my coincidentally frizzy red haired friend!) and i didn't have the time to stand in line. it was called "cup o doodles". just wondering.

your fan,
chris

I DO wish that I had been there and I DOOO wish that you had drawn me.

Your manual dexterity and social performance skills leave me gaping in lustful awe.

I want to meet your fanbase and pick up their scents. (Hmm, maybe that sentence was slightly weird… I’ll take a chance on leaving it in anyway.)

John K is actually at this moment bugging me to comment his blog, I shall have to leave you for now, but I will return.

I love your caricatures! They make me smile. Now I wish I had lined up at the Comic Con to get a sketch from you like Danny (my hubby) did. Maybe in the future...who knows? Keep 'em coming...looking forward to seeing more.

AWESOME....That 3rd guy down is still crackin me up!! I've always been fascinated how a good caricature artist can spot the smallest imperection and ATTACK it!! I got into alot of trouble doing this back in high school..I destroyed the teachers ( in drawing form) in the school newspaper.

I've seen so many different ways about drawing caricatures. I'm trying to figure them all out. It looks like you start with bold outline of the head and then work in the details. I've started out with basic shapes, but I'm learning what the pros do as i practice.
