To answer a super common question about marker brand: I use most brands of markers and only a few select shades. But, all and even the best brands make gross colors and plenty of them. Never buy marker sets. It's decisions about color combinations, line and application not brand.

I am always amazed how you marker fanatics can create such wonderful thick/thin lines? Do you go back in and change them? Or should we practice swooshing?

1.)Love Marlo Guitar Blob! Hmmm... that could be a new band name, yes?
2.)Funny gross nurse(?) thing ... slowly ... slowly ... slower
3.)Ye Gods, are all your males in your corral living caricatures? Beautiful colors. I may cry.

So happy to see a new post. They just get better and better! I'm always so impressed with your ability to push the caricatures and your brilliant linework and colors. Is there a marker brand out there that can make me as good an artist as you? Copic perhaps? :)

Holy shit, Marlo, you get better and better each time you post. Even that Mighty B story board is genius, I hope the show is able to translate your ideas and thoughts onto the screen. I mean look at that tooth! It's genius!

You should actually have your own show, instead of Amy Poehler.

Jenny Lerew said...

These should all be in a gallery. The hoity-toity kind.
I don't see them as 'caricatures' any more, just really beautiful paintings(not that one should make distinctions). Wowza.

Wow Marlo, great work!

When did you start boarding for "the Mighty B!" over at Nick? Love your drawings of Bessie and Happy.

Again, they all look great. Always love work.

Trevor Thompson said...

Do you see people the way you draw them when you begin to sketch, or do you work it out as you go?

Like, is there a translation process where you take what you see and turn it into what it becomes or is it just magic?

As always, gweat stuff, gweat stuff.
