This is actually part of a finished comic that I am going to use for something fun. (I'll post it soon) I've been doing straight-to-ink comic panels since my inking is pretty clean and they just get finished faster. Plus I get better flow when not looking at a pre-sketch. I'm learning now that it's more important that something is complete rather than absolutely perfect. Cartoony stuff should never be serious anyway. Thoughts?

You have a nice, loose, flowing style and amorphous-looking characters. It works.
It must take a lot of experience to have everything pre-planned if you go straight to ink. That's great, and this is looking like a lot of fun.
I couldn't agree more!Though i would like to see you abandon the outlines more like you do with, for example, your hair in a lot of the other drawings. i like it when you draw more with the actual washes instead of just coloring the drawings in!
Thank you Tim and JoJO!!!!
Hey thanks Dan! That's a great tip- I do love shapes more than lines. I'll keep that in mind!!
That rhymed!
I was lucky enough to see this in person at cripple con! awesome Marlo! PS. I voted for you!

you are wise beyond your years missy. i should know, because we're about the same age and i still haven't figured that one out! it's freakin tough but really important, i'm glad you've got it together! maybe one day i'll make something...one day...
Hey Brent! it was great meeting you and hanging out!!! and thanks! Hey smo! thanks for suggesting that I am very young!
Totally agree! I used to kind of be a perfectionist when it came to drawing or painting (sorta still am a bit, maybe), but I'd then get really impatient and would wanna see the damn drawing or painting just done! And cartooning is a fun artform! It's comedy in art! Yeah, why be so serious with it? But I do think it's important to have talent and skill and be able to apply those to whatever you're working on. So really, the way I've always seen it is that there should be a good balance of maintaining it loose and expressive yet balanced and well controlled.
I remember Manhunt! Oh the betrayals! In my neighborhood we beat you down if you get caught, and everybody gets caught.
We were conniving little 6 year olds, everybody had a plan.
Great stuff, I'm very happy you are posting so much recently. I agree with you about completing things. Ideas don't do any good if they only stay in your head.
Yay for frequent Marlo posts! These drawings are loose and awesome. I dig 'em. Keep up the super-great work, Marlo!
I can't wait to see more of your sequential art (the comics you did before were all great!)
that is good advice! I am a perfectionist who never gets anything done. My opinion is that the best way is to always be shifting mental gears between striving for new heights, and drawing expressively and loosely within your comfort zone... in order to strengthen your balance between the two. You do it good!
Totally agree. I can't remember the last time I've "erased" anything while cartooning. My prefered weapons are pens and markers. It's more spontanious, energetic and FUN!
Great blog here! These are really nice they remind me of teddy newtons stuff. Looks like something you would see in The Incredibles art book.
They look good and I feel like maybe I have seen this comic. Is it a part of a comic on a site that hosts multiple comics?
They look great! The hard thing, i find, about not doing pencils first is that a lot of times comics have a background a midground and foreground and it's really hard to get it all worked out in your head in advance, but if you can swing it: awesome!
I looked around your site and didn't see any news about this comic, tho... what's the deal? Is it a webcomic? Is it a printed comic? What's the deal?
